What I Am Reading, Watching, Listening To

Reading:

  • Just finished Possession by A.S. Byatt last night
  • Almost finished with Women's Ways of Knowing by Mary Field Belenky et al
  • Thinking about starting The Road by Cormac McCarthy

Watching:

  • Watched the film Possession last night on Netflix (and can't help but think that love like that really doesn't exist)

Listening To:

  • I have been so in the mood for the Eagles. I bought The Very Best of Eagles on Friday and have been listening to it throughout the weekend...

"'cause I gotta peaceful easy feeling and I know you won't let me down 'cause I'm already standing on the ground."

The big question: Is Possession worth reading?

Oh, yes! I thought it would take me forever to read it considering its 600-page size, but I kept wanting to go back to it. The plot unravels, much like a mystery novel, so if you become hooked, you can't walk away from it. In reading only a few reviews, it seems that people either love it or hate it. (My answer is reading a lot like my students' papers...how many times can I use "it"?)

I think you would really like the novel due to the intellectual complexities. Be sure to let me know what you think of it. I will probably post something more on my book blog. And be sure to watch the film after.
