2015: It's Going Down, I'm Yelling Timber

Okay, here we are one full week into 2015, and I have been doing a whole lot of thinking about what I want out of this new year. This is a big milestone year for me. I am on the countdown to 50. So there's THAT. And along with that comes the added pressure of wanting to look and feel better than I ever have and to have some epic things planned.

What I most want this year is to be healthy and happy, to live this year feeling a deep sense of inner peace and contentment and to find joy in each and every day. And I want to have lots of fun with my family and close friends. Good, clean, healthy fun. Lots of laughter. Lots of great memories.

Secondary in my life, or perhaps the extension of that overall mission for the year, are my fitness goals. Honestly, compared to years past, I think I have kept it pretty simple:
  • Bike at least 3,000 miles
  • Run at least 1,000 miles
  • Achieve at least 70,000 Fitbit steps each week
To get things moving along, I spent New Year's Day figuring out which races, rides, events I want to do this year and registered for five of them. I've come up with a pretty large list, and I will share more about my races and events as they get closer. I am quite excited about my race calendar. To start, over the next five weeks I will be focusing on my triathlon club's Indoor Ironman Triathlon. The indoor triathlon isn't a competition but rather a fun way to get some solid and consistent winter training in. It provides a little added motivation to work out when the temps outside make me want to do nothing but hide deep beneath my covers in flannel pajamas and two pairs of socks and read.

I am excited about my team affiliations for 2015 as well. I will be competing in events as a sponsored hive athlete for Honey Stinger and as a member of Team Soxy Feet. Additionally, I am continuing as a Sweat Pink ambassador. I am really grateful for these opportunities.

I know I am being a bit vague and a bit brief for the moment, but those of you who know me well know there are always larger things in the works. I want to reveal them as they come down the pike. Those three main goals I listed above will lead the way to some other pretty sweet plans I have for 2015.

So how do I really feel about turning 50 this year? It's. About. To. Go. Down.
